Why You Should Sleep Through New Year's Eve

Why You Should Sleep Through New Year's Eve

Sure, the countdown can be thrilling when everyone chimes in, but are the 10 seconds before the ball drops and the confetti flies really worth staying up past midnight on New Year's Eve? We don't think so. Instead of wearing that scratchy, sequin dress or that neck-strangling bow tie, you could be snuggled up in bed in your coziest pajamas hosting your own private slumber party.

But if the thought of spending a night in warm flannel PJs isn't enough to convince you to skip out on the traditional festivities, consider these four other reasons to sleep through New Year's Eve.

Wake Up Feeling Amazing

First things first, we all want to start a new year off on the right foot so why not avoid a lingering champagne hangover on January 1? If you opt to stay in instead of going out (and only drink one night cap instead of three or four), you'll be able to wake up refreshed and ready to take on whatever the first day of the year throws at you. And that's something to celebrate.

Don't Worry About a New Year's Kiss

If you're single and ready to mingle, finding a partner for a new year's kiss can be stressful. Instead of making the rounds on the dance floor, anxiously eyeing the clock in search of someone to smooch, stay in bed and dream about meeting your perfect match instead.

Avoid Glitter Bombs

The only thing arguably worse than drinking too much champagne? Waking up covered in glitter. And you're bound to find those stuck-on shimmers of sparkle all over your face, neck and hands on New Year's Day if you come in contact with anyone wearing the stuff.

Plan the Year Ahead #LikeaBoss

All that time (and money!) you would have spent getting ready for that final bash of the year could instead be devoted to planning your goals and resolutions for the next 365 days. Whether you want to spend the summer abroad in Paris or finally start your own business, this could be your year to make it happen.
